It was a lot of fun to be onstage at the REP Theatre in an improvised a cappella musical as part of Improvention 2025 in Canberra. All the musical background (including chords, beatbox patterns and body percussion) was generated by performers who were not on stage. Those players on stage developed scenes with improvised melodies and backing vocal patterns. And all spontaneously with no planning. We had a full on 3 hours to do some deep dives into the cognitive processes used when improvising....lots of theory then lots of games. We also shared work and life contexts to which we could apply these impro techniques, and these varied from computer network design, to semi-government agencies, financial regulation
